Inside the Best Tea House in Town - and Must Try Items on the Menu

Located on the south side of Saugus, the Tea Elle C Garden Cafe is not a new restaurant, but over the years it has earned the title of one of our favorites. This casual tea house serves an amazing breakfast and an even better lunch. It is a smaller restaurant located tucked away on the back side of the Santa Clarita Plaza. It is adorned with flower drapes, English country decor and of course, lots of tea pots. 

There are well over 50 teas to choose from, and this includes all varieties of black, green, honeybush, oolong, rooibos, white, yerba mate, tisanes and flowers and roots. If you easily get overwhelmed, I wholeheartedly suggest my personal favorite (and customer favorite) Coconut Cocoa, which is a black tea with flavors of coconut and chocolate.You can order your tea hot or cold, and you can choose between two and six cup sized pots. I typically order the 6 cup size and take whatever leftover tea I have to go, so I can enjoy it for the rest of the afternoon.  

While dining here, you can choose to order the traditional tea, which includes your choice of tea, those cute little finger sandwiches, a scone and three desserts. They also offer a robust breakfast/brunch menu, with lots of sweet and savory options. Notable is the Chocolate Hazelnut French Toast (which is made from croissants!)  and the Benedict Bowl that is served in a deliciously filling sourdough bowl. However, my personal favorite is their lunch options. Do not miss the Meme’s Salad, with the Meme’s Salad Dressing (a whole grain mustard dressing that is AMAZING). You can’t go wrong with the grilled sandwiches, the sandwich wraps or any of the finger sandwiches. 

They do get busy at lunch, on weekends and around the holidays. I suggest that you go earlier in the day to miss the rush. Reservations are taken if you have a party of more than 6 people. While they have plenty of seating inside including a separate room for larger parties, they also have lovely shaded outdoor seating for warm days. It would be a great place to host a birthday party or a baby shower. 

Having been patrons of this restaurant over the years (I’m talking over 14 years), we’ve watched the restaurant change ownership a few times, unfortunately, not every owner has proven to be skilled at being a manager and/or running a restaurant. There were a few times where we noticed quality went down in service or in food quality. On our visits in the past year we have been very excited to report, the current owner seems to really have a great handle on the food quality and the service. If you had tried it awhile back and were disappointed, we think you should give it another chance. The Tea Elle C Garden Cafe is open Monday- Thursday 10 am- 4 pm, on Friday- Sundays 9 am- 5 pm.
